It runs for about five kilometres between two small villages south of Kolymvari, along a level dirt track that follows a stream bed between rock walls, under plane and chestnut trees, past two chapels, with a drinking-water fountain and a car park at each end. An hour, give or take, one way. It is short, shaded, hard to get lost in and gentle enough for young children, and that is exactly why it is worth knowing — and why keen hikers will find it too easy. The walls rise steeply on either side, and between the rock and the trees most of the path is in shade for most of the day. The surface is gravel and dirt, with stretches of an old concrete track surviving here and there. The two chapels mark the ends: **Agios Fotios** near Deliana and **Agia Paraskevi**, tucked into a rock face, near Mesavlia. The stream that shaped the gorge comes down from Mount Anavos; in spring it still runs beside the path, and in a wet winter it can flood the gorge floor entirely, which is the one time not to go. *Photo: Remains of an old concrete track along the gorge floor* ## Making it work The simplest plan is to park at Deliana, walk as far as you like towards Mesavlia and walk back; the full through-walk means either doubling it or arranging a pickup at the other end. Spring is the best season. Deliana is not on the Region's 2026 list of fire-day closures, but on a very high fire-risk day any outing into dry countryside deserves second thoughts. In summer the stream is dry.
